About Joel

Born and raised in Upper Hutt, Wellington by a solo mum with strong morals, a sense of accountability, and a tight control over the purse strings.

Formational to my career & the values of the business was an 11-month stretch in South Sudan in 2012. The primary aim was using football to unify & develop young men. A love for cross-cultural relationships and seeing the success of others grew.

Following my year abroad, I completed a BCOM at VUW, majoring in Marketing & International Business. While the goal was a degree, the bigger achievement was meeting my future wife - a Brazilian raised in Spain with Lebanese ancestry.

In 2023 we were blessed with the birth of our son Koa (meaning bold & courageous). It’s a joy watching him grow and develop.

I'm an avid enjoyer of sports and have played a multitude throughout my life. My particular love is for football & snowboarding.

Outside of sport and family time, I'm often deep in the garden or contributing to the community through Church and Charities.

The Values

The Values

The Values

Freedom of Choice

We work with a wider range of providers than most, even if it is inconvenient in terms of time and admin for us.

We aim to cater to as many possible investment needs that clients may have. We take the time to understand your preferences and views so that what you get is useful.

Personalisation is paramount.

Encouragement of Giving

The world encourages people to be insular with wealth. The focus is to ever-generate more for ‘me’ and my family.

Our belief is that one’s principal goal should be to put themselves and their family in a position such that they can give away more wealth than they keep for themselves.

We want to lead by example.

Personal Ethics

There is a push within our industry towards investments being arbitrarily defined as ‘ethical’ and ‘unethical’ by organisations.

Your investments should reflect what you have a peace about putting money towards, not what a marketing department says.

Align your investing with your beliefs.

Transparency

The industry requires disclosure of fees charged and/or commission earned should you implement our recommendations.

We take it another step and disclose what we earn from all possible recommendations, before you give the green light for advice.

Transparency fosters trust.

No Discrimination

I've witnessed it, and been subject to it - both in NZ and abroad, for various reasons which some may try to justify.

Be it medical, economic, physical, or other, the reasons offered to try and justify discrimination aren’t always the same, but they almost always have the same root - fear.

This business has a different foundation.

Open-Mindedness

People are resistant to change. In the investment world this can result in advisers failing to learn and innovate.

Share markets were once a new phenomenon. The new frontiers of finance are coming. Whether it is cryptrocurrency or something else, things change.

Learning and growth is a must.
